Wild West set extension

Transforming a forested background into the Wild West, with a slight dreamlike quality

This promo was intense.  9 shots of set extension with heavy rotoscoping, big hair, indistinct silhouettes.  Proud of how it turned out in spite of many difficulties.  The goal was not utter realism, but to reflect the dream-like state of the actors and a style reminiscent of classic Spaghetti Westerns.

Crushed snake

Footage shot by Studio E

I was given plates of a bull snake and a foot, shot on a Phantom Miro at 1500 fps.  I was asked to make the foot crush the head of the snake.

The head is completely CG.

Easter promo

Here is an Easter Promo for Elevation Church.  I designed and animated all shots thumbnailed below, based on art direction and supervision by Geoff Schultz.  The majority of shots were created using Maya, Element3D and After Effects.  A couple heavier shots were C4D, Vray, and Realflow

Grandpa's Cadillac

Here's another personal project.  I modeled my grandfather's Cadillac that I grew up seeing in his garage.  Memory indicates that it is a 1963 Model 62 or Deville

needtobreathe music video ft. Gavin DeGraw

Today is VH1's premiere of needtobreathe's "Brother" video

Directed by my bud Jared Hogan, I was responsible for all VFX.  Over 50 shots needed removal of lighting harnesses, rigs and wires.  An example below

Grandpa's Watch

As a personal project, I had modeled my grandfather's Hamilton Sentinel watch from the 1940s.  I got Element 2 for After Effects the same week, and decided that this would be a good test of its new capabilities.  Overall the process was great, and I was impressed with the new Element

3D Boba Fett

Been having a blast on this personal project.  Wanted to do a technical exercise and have always enjoyed this character.  Most of the textures were painted on my new Interactive Pen Display.  I created him with the use of Maya, Marvelous Designer, Mudbox, Photoshop and he was rendered in Arnold.

"The Best Yes" book release

I had the opportunity to work on 3 promotional videos for New York Times Bestselling Author Lysa Terkuerst's latest book release.  I did a lot of compositing to clean up some shots, and created a 3D animation of the book.

Grilling gone wrong

Here was a quick (one hour) composite job for Elevation Church.   This sequence in the promo had continuity problems which required the grill to be made closed and fire to be added.  Attached is the video (with a couple "before" stills)

Diamonds

This was a really fun piece that I worked on at Elevation Church.  I was responsible for the modeling, lighting/shading and rendering of the diamond in 3D.  Created in Maya.
